Identidad y globalización en centros históricos ingleses

Abstract

Este artículo se refiere a tres centros históricos ingleses: Bath, Cambridge y York, y al impacto turístico en la globalización. El principal interés se enfoca en las disposiciones legales y adminsitrativas para el control de la afluencia de vehículos y peatones en las áreas centrales. Al mismo tiempo, estas páginas exploran las restricciones aplicadas para proteger los sitios y edificios antiguos de la presencia masiva de visitantes que llegan a ser más de tres millones al año en Bath y más de dos millones en Cambridge y York. La principal razón para el éxito de estos objetivos reside, en gran parte, sobre los habitantes locales, que se identifican profundamente con su ciudad y con los edificios del pasado, y se sienten orgullosos de ambos.

Abstract: This article refers to three historical English centers: Bath, Cambridge and York and the impact of tourism as a result of globalization. It focuses on the legal and administrative arrangements for controlling the flow of vehicles and pedestrians to central areas. At the same time, it explores the restrictions applied to protect old sites and buildings from the mass presence of visitors, which exceed three million in Bath and two million in Cambridge and York. The main reason for the success of these objectives is the attitude of local inhabitants, who identify profoundly with their city and the buildings of the past and feel proud of both.
