Cuba: el (incómodo) imaginario de un proceso social

Abstract

El propósito de este artículo es mostrar cómo, culturalmente hablando, la Revolución Cubana no consiguió transformar un imaginario de origen colonial e ibérico frecuente en América Latina. Más aún, dicho imaginario se convirtió a la vez en sostén del fidelismo y el guevarismo y en motivo recuperado por la mercadotecnia estadounidense de masas. El imaginario en cuestión, como se busca demostrar, es señorial y con fuertes tintes religiosos. Se explica así que el proceso cubano no haya podido superar hasta hoy los lastres del paternalismo y el igualitarismo.

Abstract: The aim of this article is show how, culturally speaking, the Cuban revolution failed to transform the imagery of colonial and Spanish origin so common in Latin America. Moreover, these imagery became the underpinning of Fidelism and Guevarism and the motif selected by U.S. mass marketing. The imagery in question, as the author wishes to point out, is manorial, with heavily religious undertones. This explains why the Cuban process has as yet been unable to overcome the burden of paternalism and equalitarianism.
