¿Qué ciudadanía en Argentina? Recorrido por las décadas recientes

Abstract

Recientemente se ha producido una fuerte restricción de las intervenciones estatales. Al tiempo que se ensancha formalmente el reconocimiento de los derechos del ciudadano, el espacio para su goce se reduce. La democracia se ha convertido en la forma dominante del orden político, pero ya no tiene el sentido fuerte de ser una ilusión, y tampoco la piedra angular para la renovación de las relaciones sociales y políticas. Al igual que el resto de América Latina, Argentina se ha vuelto un país desigual en cuanto a distribución de ingresos y de cultura; en estas condiciones ¿es posible aspirar al ejercicio pleno de la ciudadanía?

Abstract: Recent years have seen a sharp reduction in state intervention. At the same time as there has been a formal expansion of the recognition of citizen's rights, the sphere for enjoying them has been reduced. Democracy has become the dominant form of the political order, although it no longer has the strong sense of being an illusion or the cornerstone for renovating social and political relations. Like the rest of Latin America, Argentina has become an unequal country in the the distribution of income and culture. Under these conditions, is it possible to aspire to the full exercise of citizenship?
