América Latina: la curialización imposible, o del parasitismo

Abstract

A partir de algunas tesis de Norbert Elías, este articulo se propone demostrar que en América Latina no se produjo el proceso de curialización de los guerreros, y que esta ausencia repercutió desde la Conquista hasta la actualidad en la historia local. En cambio, los guerreros y señores latinoamericanos establecieron una forma particular de parasitismo. Hasta hoy, los requisitos que Elías daba por necesarios para la curialización no han tenido lugar en América Latina, y acaso quepa esperar que los procesos recientes de democratización pongan fin a las costumbres señoriales) y den lugar a la "pacificación de las pasiones".

Abstract: On the basis of some of Norbert Elías' theses, this arcicle attempts to demonstrate that the process of "curialization of warriors" failed to take place and that this has had an effect on local history from the Conquest until the present. Conversely, Latin American warriors and lords stablished a particular form of parasitism. So far, the requirements Elias thought were necessary for curialization in Latin America have failed to take place, and one can only hope that the recent processes of democratization wjll put an end to lordly customs and give rise to the "pacification of passions".
