Abstract: In this article I talk about the usefulness of current legislation about transparency in Mexico in order to enhance political participation. The discussion is centered around three issues: a) the relationship between information and trust, b) the way in which trust incentivates participation, and c) which is the situation of Mexico concerning these issues. At the end of this article I present some data to support the idea that there is much more to do in our country to achieve the quality standards of democracy.
